Update: The pump can be cleaned..... After 7 months usage, I noticed the pump starting to go weak on me a month or so ago and now it stopped completely. I found out you CAN take the pump apart to clean the pump rotor area up. Before I took it apart I noticed a fine scale on the pump and thought if I soaked it in CLR (Calcium, Lime, Rust) remover ("Lime Away" will probably work also) just to see if that would help. I have decent well water so it's not heavy rust or lime like some people have, turns out it's just enough to be an issue. Just rinse every thing down with water when done. Takes all of 30 seconds to take it apart. The sponge/plastic screen end just unclips off then take the inner shield/shroud out the same way, I just pried the rounded intake up with a small screw driver and it just popped right out. The rotor is held in by magnets so I just took some tweezers or pliers and the rotor just pulls out easily. I soaked everything for an hour or so in the CLR just to make sure it was working and noticed the magnet part of the little rotor had a real thin film of calcium/lime built up and just lightly scrapped it with the edge of the screw driver just enough to scrape it off. Also make sure to clean out the hole the rotor came out of as it all has a clearance it has to keep so the magnet can "float" in the hole. I have the smaller "jeweler" type screw drivers and they worked great cleaning things up in the corners and such. It now works like new again!! For me I will probably clean it twice a year to keep up on it. Works great but wish it had a sight gauge to tell exactly where the water level is. (Not likely with a ceramic base but would be nice). The red light that comes on when it's too low helps a lot. I just use a pitcher to refill it then wash it every other time. Basically just over the hump of the filter is high enough. It does have lights in it, like a nite light and a red light to show when it needs water, but, the low water red light only comes on when there is no more water pumping (it shuts itself off to keep from wearing out). You do have a small amount of water left in the "splash" dish if you catch it in time. It's pretty easy to clean, I scrub the bowl and other parts with hot water and dish soap and a stiff-ish sponge really good and I also use soap to clean the sponge filter out then- rinse it really good- afterwards. I don't know about the inner "fine" filter attached to the pump, it is replaceable but I don't know why you would need it. The "sponge" filter on top that filters the return water of cat hair, food, dust seems to work fine. I wouldn't use it for a long vacation water dish but for daily use it's great. It will last 7 or 8 days with 3 cats so no problem there.

Our cats will only drink water from ceramic bowls or cups. We had to use a coffee mug because one of our cats will play in the water if it's a bigger bowl. He would tip over the bowl or just play in it getting water everywhere. This waterer is heavy so he can't tip it over and it's very quiet. Love the fact that I can charge it and place it in an area without an outlet. The cats both took to it very well. As long as the motor lasts it's 5 stars. The sensors work well. Though you do need to put it in an area with minimal foot traffic. The battery doesn't last as long as I want in the normal place we put their food and water because it's in an area with a lot of back and forth walking in front of the sensors. Yet that's our fault. We are going to try moving it to a less used area of the house. Even if we had to keep it where it is now it's still really great and we just have to charge it about 5 to 7 days.

I’ve had this fountain for 6 months now and so far it’s been amazing for my 3 cats. It’s very quiet and all I hear is the water trickling. I like that it is mostly ceramic and it is easy to disassemble and clean. I absolutely love that it is completely wireless and also that I can clean the pump. Some of these wireless fountains have an external pump with the battery built into the pump and there’s no way to clean it. This fountain has an induction pump that’s similar to most pumps typically found in fountains and it’s easy to take apart and clean. Since hard water is what ruins pumps, being able to clean it with vinegar helps with that. And if the pump should fail at some point, it should be easy to replace. This fountain is heavy, which can be a good thing since it won’t tip and it can be a bad thing since it’s got to be picked up off of the floor to refill. The battery lasts about 3 weeks or so. I get good life from the filter also, but I do empty and fill with fresh water every day, sometimes every other day.
