Katherine & Swayze
I was taking some trash to the dumpster behind my apartment building when some of the residents mentioned that there was a cat outside that looked like it was injured. I went out there with one of the residents to see said cat and after a minute he came out from under some furniture. After watching him play and walk around, it didn’t appear that he was injured. It looked like he had a neurological disorder called cerebellar hypoplasia (“wobbly cat syndrome”). It had not affected him one bit. He still runs, plays, climbs, etc. All of the things that every other cat does. He’s just a bit wobbly. We believe someone dumped him because of this disorder. Now he has a home where he will be extremely cared for and spoiled.
Brittany & Truffles
When we first brought Truffles home, he would not stop meowing and we didn’t know what he wanted. Turns out, we had interrupted his dinner when we adopted him and he was reprimanding us for forgetting to let him finish his dinner! He got plenty of food that night!
Lucky lil leg's
To begin my journey as a pet parent, I had always envisioned adopting a canine companion upon retirement. One day, to my surprise, my husband presented me with an adorable, petite, black furred puppy. She was so tiny that I initially had to feed her using a syringe. As days turned into weeks, she gradually grew and developed a strong attachment to me, following me wherever I went. Even now, at the age of two, she remains inseparable from me. I take her with me on all my outings and delight in dressing her up in matching outfits and footwear, mirroring my own attire.
Christopher & Charlotte
I went to the store to fill out adoption paperwork for an all white kitten that wasn’t quite ready for adoption yet but as I walked past the crates this little black and white paw came out and tried to grab me and I heard this little “pip” meow. Needless to say that little tuxedo cat named Charlotte came home with me and I didn’t even have anything, I had to buy stuff right there. That first night she slept snuggled in my armpit and I barely slept, worried that I’d roll over on her. That was 13 1/2 years ago and she’s still my baby, still “pips” at me and still sleeps with me sometimes.
Emily & Luigi
I rescued Luigi about three years ago in Sacramento, California. He had just been listed for adoption and I was told that he was very shy. But when he came up to me and demanded pets, I knew we had connected. He was very sick and I nurtured him back to health, he just turned four years old last week.
Jennifer & Wolverine
I visited a shelter in Warrensburg, MO back in 2009 and this adorable black kitten kept meowing at me and trying to reach through the cage to get to me. I knew he had to come home with me but he needed to stay a couple more days to finish some medication. I kept calling to make sure Noone else snatched him up. When he was ready, I picked him up and brought him home. My daughters were 5 and 6 at the time. My youngest daughter is now 20 and Wolverine still sleeps with her every night.
Karen & Sephora
I adopted Sephora from new York at an adoption place called bideawee. She was rescued from a puppy mill and I wanted to change her future by giving her all the love in the world, opposite of what she sadly had to go through. Together we have been through so much, we’ve moved states (Newyork/ Missouri / to our forever home in Indianapolis). This year is her big 13 yr old birthday and I can’t wait to celebrate them with her along with her 3 cat siblings and her brother Bruce, another rescue we adopted. Sephora is such a moody old lady now but when she was younger she was so full of energy, Curious, fearless and very protective about us, I can’t wait to spend many many more years with her.
